1408 Pleasantly Surprises; Receives 3/10 Berating

Posted by The Gimcracker in Beratings, Movies on 18. Jul, 2007 | Comments

I was expecting one of two things, either a supernatural demon/spirit filled journey into the depths of hades, or a slasher film. 1408 was neither (although closer to the former than the latter). Think The Shining meets Identity.
The Good
John Cusack one-mans most of the movie (based on a short story by Stephen King) and does [...]

‘B’ Boastfully Backs Beloved ‘B4 Blog’ Brother Blogger Because Brand-new Blog Brings Brilliant Brainwork: ‘By the Narrow Gate’

Jonathan Wey is writing again. That’s all you need to know.
Not since Dragons Buried on High have we been privileged with such an uninhibited glimpse into such a unique mind. He is a MUCH better writer than I (I’m talking LITS here) and you can tell that he meticulously prepares each and every post. I [...]

Beratings Cometh

Posted by The Gimcracker in Beratings, Movies on 11. Jul, 2007 | Comments

Don’t you hate it when that list of 10 movies you’ve been dying to see suddenly escapes your memory as soon as you enter Blockbuster? I’ve decided to start rating the movies I’ve seen, not because I think anyone actually cares what my opinion is, but because I find myself frequently forgetting what they were [...]

Why I’m Scared Of Iran

Posted by The Gimcracker in News, Theory & Philosophy on 10. Jul, 2007 | Comments

A man and woman were just stoned to death in Iran, according to this FoxNews.com article, and it wasn’t carried out by a few outraged villagers wielding pitchforks as I had previously envisioned it. Iran’s government confirmed that they were responsible for stoning the man as punishment for adultery. I’m dumbfounded that something like this [...]

MSNBC News Reporter Flips Out Over Paris Hilton Story

Her name is Mika Brzezinski and I am now a tremendous fan of hers. She even got her own hour-long news show because of her outburst. This is almost enough to make me start watching MSNBC… almost.

Counterintuitive Madness

Posted by The Gimcracker in Science on 06. Jul, 2007 | Comments

I have always been fascinated with counterintuitive puzzles. During my third year in quantitative analysis at IUPUI I was presented with the famous Monty Hall problem. It states:

Suppose you’re on a game show, and you’re given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, [...]

Death Penalty = Abortion?

Posted by The Gimcracker in Theory & Philosophy on 02. Jul, 2007 | Comments

I am no politician and I never will be. I have no idea what the political ramifications are of stating that the death penalty equals abortion. I am coming from a Christian conservative background, but being non-political means you can pretty much remove the “conservative” and say I’m simply coming from a Christian background. I [...]

You made it to the third set of widgets on my widget slider sidebar mechanism. There are only two reasons you could end up here: 1) because you are so into TGM that you read every word on every page, or 2) because you are trying to find something incriminating so you can hurt my reputation because I have offended you in some way (you're probably a Twitter fan boy or a Multigrain Cheerios lover). If you are here because of #2 and you want a bit of juicy gossip then here you go: I used to steal candy bars from the gift shop I worked at in the airport when I was 17 because they forged my time card to have less hours than I really worked. There's a slight chance that if you really put your mind to it and told the right people you could somehow hurt my reputation. At least I'll know that if I get a notice of a lawsuit in the mail regarding this matter that there was at least one person out there reading my blog :)
